Who are we?  We are a group who endeavors to keep watch over the area we consider to be the geographically "Lower" part of the Armour Villa community in the Bronxville/Yonkers part of Westchester County, in the state of New York. This area is the part of Armour Villa closest to the Bronx River Parkway. But, you say, isn't there already an Armour Villa Association?  Well, yes, there is.  But that association focuses primarily on the care of "Upper" Armour Villa. But, please  - we applaud the hard work and efforts of the Association.  We do, however, see that there are needs not being addressed.
Our first effort is aimed at our neighbors down near the Bronx River - they have some serious parking issues there, and we have been keeping up with the on goings there as best as we can.
Our second effort will likely be the absolutely ridiculous and ineffectual stop signs installed on Parkview Avenue (lobbied for by the "Upper" Association).  These signs are making things so very dangerous for our neighbors that the issue is CRYING to be audited.  Drivers simply ignore the signs - some do slow a bit - and this causes confusion, which will inevitably lead to property damage if not personal injury!  We have witnessed school buses - laden with our neighbor's children - drive right through the signs without even slowing!  And forget about a speed limit (30 MPH on Parkview Avenue) as very few obey it.  We believe the idea behind the stop signs was to address the speed issue, but it is a non-fix to the continued speeding on this street.  We since have observed vehicles accelerating as hard as possible prior to the first stop sign they come to, at which they slow down a bit, then hit the gas until the next sign at which perhaps a pause is imitated prior to stomping on the accelerator.  Many, on the other hand, don't bother with the pause and just speed right on through.  This is inexcusable and unlawful, but there are rarely any Police available to monitor the situation.  We know they are busy, so this is not intended to cast any negative light on their fine ranks.  Keep up the good work, guys!  We appreciate all that you do - Thank you!
Another issue we hope to engage is the garbage laden border between the Bronx River Parkway and Lenox Avenue.  This section of land is owned by the County of Westchester, and they should be more responsible for it's upkeep and maintenance. This strip of land also is home to a street drain that is always overcome by heavy rains, resulting in the total blockage of Lenox Avenue to vehicle traffic - and eventually leads to the blocking of the Bronx River Parkway as well.  To our best understanding, the County has never taken a serious look at these problems, so perhaps we can use our website to further their understanding of the problem.
We hope to continue to take care of our neighbors, which is simply what all neighbors should do for each other.  We expect that you will understand our concern for our fellow citizens, and perhaps you will take a look for yourself and join the cause. Our email is available below for your comments.
Thank you.
